Atiqa Victoria ::30 Makeup Tips We Love::

We've compiled 30 of the best makeup tips that let you do the job better!

About face

  1. Always prep skin with primer or moisturizerbefore foundation, even if you have oily skin. Otherwise, it'll emphasize your pores.
  2. Make your liquid concealer blend better by mixing it with moisturizer on the back of your hand.
  3. For a barely-there finish, spot apply foundation only where you need it.
  4. The best way to camouflage a blemish? Skip the concealer -- instead use the thickened base collected in the cap of your foundation. Dab and blend with your finger then set with powder.
  5. To prevent powder from streaking or settling into lines, press (not swipe) it on the face.
  6. Rid mid-day shine: Before you touch up with a pressed powder, always nix excess sebum with a blotter, otherwise everything will look cakey.

Eye spy

  1. To conceal undereye circles, dot concealer on the inner and middle area, then pat with your ring finger to blend.
  2. The solution to creased eyeshadow: Prime lids with powder using a velour puff. You'll find that any eye makeup you apply afterwards stays in place much longer.
  3. Try this fool-proof way to line your eyes --instead of a single stroke, draw a series of dashes with your liner along the lashline, then connect the dots.
  4. For long-lasting eyeliner, trace over it with a stiff-bristled shadow brush dipped in dark shadow.
  5. Shimmer shadows are fun to wear, but also emphasize heavy lids and fine lines. Choose matte if you have puffy or wrinkled lids, and use shimmer as a highlighter instead on the browbone.
  6. Brighten your peepers by sweeping a dot of pale shimmery shadow at the inner corners.

Lash works

  1. Try this eyelash curler trick for the most natural-looking bend: Curl lashes at the roots, then pump the curler as you walk it toward the tips.
  2. For super curls, heat your curler with a blow-dryer for a few seconds before curling.
  3. If you have poker-straight lashes, try a waterproof mascara, which locks the curl into your lashes better than a regular formula.
  4. Make your lashes pop by applying a coat of lengthening mascara, followed by one coat of thickening mascara.
  5. To make your eyes seem wider, apply to your bottom lashes too. It's easier to do your bottom lashes before your top, rather than vice versa.
  6. Wiggle the mascara wand in a zig-zag direction from the roots of your lashes to the tips. This separates your lashes and makes them appear fuller and thicker.
  7. Erase any smudges easily with a cotton bud dipped in a mild eye makeup remover.

Blush out

  1. Toss the small-sized brush that comes with the blush. If you want perfect application, use a professional blush brush instead.
  2. For gel and cream blush, dab it on with your finger and blend.
  3. To give your face a slimmer look, get a duo-shade blush compact. Apply the lighter color onto the apples of your cheeks and sweep the darker shade along the line of your cheekbones. Then blend.
  4. Gone overboard with the blush? Dust a little translucent powder over it to tone down the color. For cream blush, blot the pigment off with a tissue.
  5. For a subtle glow, dab a shimmery highlighter on the highest point of your cheekbones, then blend up and out towards the temples.
  6. Your best bronzer shade is one to two shades darker than your natural color. Anything darker will look fake.

Lip service

  1. To prevent lipstick from seeping into cracks, coat your mouth with a layer of lip balm. Let it sit for a few minutes, then blot off the excess with a tissue before applying color.
  2. Make your lipstick last by filling your lips with a nude lip pencil. Then top with lipstick. (Ditto for gloss!)
  3. When it comes to applying a rich or dark lip color, precision is key. Always use a lip brush to paint on the color.
  4. If you are going nude, first prime lips with foundation to counteract your natural lip undertones before applying lipstick. Otherwise, your nude lips will turn a muddy shade.
  5. Prevent lipstick from getting onto your teeth with this trick: After application, pop a finger in your mouth, then pull it out -- excess lipstick will come off on your finger.
  6. For a plump finish, dab clear gloss on the center of your lips for a luscious pout.
